How to Make Money Online Using Hubpages

There are several tons of articles that have been written on the subject of how to make money online and equally the various methods involved.

However if you go through these methods, not all of them can work for you, and you might not be comfortable with some of the methods described.

This article will show you how to make money online using a website called hubpages.

One of the methods of making money online that has worked for me is article marketing.

This is pretty simple and straight forward, I write an article, publish the article online and monetize the article.

You do not have to write the article yourself, you can get people to write articles for you, I will explain how later.

For a beginner online, there is always the temptation to follow several money making methods, prescribed in e-books all at once.

This can be very confusing and overwhelming to say the least.

My advice is - choose one method and stick with it for a while then you would begin to see results, but you have to be patient.

Amongst the many money making methods, if article marketing is the method you have decided to use to make money online then here are the things you need to be doing:

  • Writing your articles
  • Publishing your articles
  • Driving traffic to your articles.
  • Monetizing your articles
Writing your articles - you need to be writing good original content articles. You can either do it yourself or pay others to do it for you. If you head over to elance.com now you will find out that you can be able to pay people to write articles for you for as little as $3.00 (three dollars) per article, typically between 250 - 800 words. You can also ask friends, family members and colleagues to write articles for you. If they do not have what it takes to write, you can interview them to get information about a topic they know a lot about.

Publishing your articles - you have to get your articles online. To do this you can either create your own website or publish them on article syndication websites. The major advantage of creating your own website is that you get to keep all the revenue generated from your articles.

There are a some serious draw backs to this approach however, such as:

  • Cost - you have to bear all the cost of registering a domain name, hosting, maintenance, etc.
  • Technical know - how to maintain your site.
Driving traffic to your article - apart from the shortcomings of creating your own website, there is also the requirement of getting traffic (visitors) to visit your website and to read your articles. If there are no visitors to your website you would not be able to make any money. Any body who has been involved with Internet marketing will tell you how difficult it is to get visitors, especially to a new website. Monetizing your articles - At the end of day this is your ultimate goal, i.e. to make money from your articles, so you have to find ways of doing this. There are several methods you can use to monetize your articles, like:

  • selling affiliate products,
  • placing paid adverts on your articles, and
  • even selling your own items or products.
The solution to all the problems associated with creating your own website is to use article syndication sites like hubpages.com. There are several benefits of using hubpages.com to publish your article. These include:

  • You do not have to bother about hosting costs, site maintenance, etc.
  • No technical knowledge is required to build your article pages.
  • They have a very acceptable revenue sharing scheme whereby you keep 60% percent of the revenue generated from AdSense ads placed on your articles, plus you can also sell affiliate products through you articles. Some "hubbers" are currently making in excess of $500.00 (five hundred) a month just from AdSense alone.
  • Hubpages integrates well with Amazon and eBay, and you are allowed to place links to relevant Amazon and Ebay items directly on your article and make money each time one of these articles is bought through your link.
  • By doing this you will leverage their power of driving traffic to their site. Hundreds of thousands of people visit hubpages every day, and you will benefit from this traffic.
  • Well written Hubpages articles get high rankings in the search engines.
  • You can publish articles on any subject you like, provided it meets their terms of use.
  • They provide a lot of help and support to new hubbers.
  • There is also a very useful hubbers' forum where you can ask questions and get answers to any questions you may have.
I bet if you look around your hard drive you will find some original articles you could publish now and start to make money online today!

Blogging for SEO, Robots and Human Readers

Naturally we have all been raised to write for the human reader. I doubt many parents raise their children remarking, "Now Johnny, be sure to practice writing so the robot can read your story!" As crazy as it sounds, bloggers are faced with the task to not only write for humans, but for robots too!

Have you written your blog posts for humans only, or do you also aim to please the robots appetite for the latest scoop? Although it may be your specialty, robots are not looking to read the latest gossip, but they are looking to read strong keywords and key phrases. To please the robots be sure to toss the robots some keyword biscuits and key phrase sandwiches so you will be handsomely rewarded! For good seo, (search engine optimization) the primary keywords are those found in your blog post titles. Your blog post titles have the greatest impact for bringing in organic traffic from the search engines.

Blogging with robots in mind is not the easiest task for bloggers because it means we have to write in a manner that may seem awkward as we create the content. If the content was not carefully crafted it may result in feeling a repetitious flow of specific keywords when the human reader takes a gander at your blog posts. If you were in an English class and submitted a story written in a manner to find favor from a robot, the teacher would probably give you bad marks for being too repetitious with certain words. One rare exception would be if your teacher is a robot!

When it comes to search engines and robots, proper keyword selection, placement and repetition are helpful in order to establish your main keywords and key phrases for your blog. For most, that is not second nature, but instead a learned process in blogging. Bloggers must find a happy medium between writing for the human reader, and writing for the robots. Ultimately you may prefer to write for the human reader first, and the robots second. If that is the case and you are the human reading this article, be sure to tell the robots to get behind you in line!

Did I write for the robot here? Hmm, I better throw the robot some keyword biscuits to lure him in to get my keyword higher up in the search results. So please have a blogging, blogging, blogging, good time!

Blogging For Newbies - Things to Know Before You Set Up a Blog

Blogging can be fun and rewarding. But let's face it. Most of the people who set up a blog site don't even make it past the one month mark. What happens to their blog? Nothing. It becomes another statistics among the long list of forgotten blog sites. The two main reasons: lack of time and lost of interest. There are two reasons why people set up a blog: to share their knowledge and to earn money - the latter being the most popular reason and that's what these tips are focused on. If you are a newbie and is thinking of setting up your own blog to monetize later, the following tips may help you save a lot of frustrations.

  • Know your topic. If you're a beginner, make sure you already know what to write for before you even attempt set up your own blog. A lot of newbies will set up a blog, write different topics that come to mind, and then abandon their site after a week or a month because they lost interest in their topic. Write what you like. Write what you know. If want to create a blog for a particular subject that you are not familiar with, do a thorough research first. Document all the things you did while learning the subject then post those as your initial blog articles.

  • Content is important. Make sure you have a fresh supply of interesting and readable content to create a readership and not just some trashy article. When you start a blog, make it a point to write an article or two everyday. Don't copy and paste from other sources as you may infringe someone else's copyrights. If you can't write that many article, at least write four new articles every two or three days or let someone else write it for you like hiring a freelance copywriter. This will be for traffic building. After a month or two, you could reduce the quantity to about 1-3 articles per week. That is, if you are blogging for a profit. Although there are tools out there that can generate content for your website automatically (and mind you, they're not free), I still suggest writing your own articles. If you are writing for a hobby, then I think this tip is an exception, although it is a good practice.

  • Design is important. Although from a personal point of view, content is more important, a good design adds visual authority to your content. That is, if you want to get people to be interested in your blog, you must deliver a lasting first impression. Humans are visual creatures. If the website design is bad, people will just hit the Back button almost immediately. Humans also have a very short attention span especially online so make sure your website design (or blog theme as we call it) is simple yet attractive.

  • Learn basic HTML. Yes, HTML or HyperText Markup Language. Whether you like it or not, somewhere at some point you would need at least a basic knowledge of HTML, particularly if you are going to setup a hosted blog. If you're like other people who think HTML is difficult, don't worry - it's not. If you don't have time to study, then find some time to do so. Blogging is a lot easier if you know HTML. Trust me. I highly recommend this, although it's not necessary when you start up a blog.

  • Devote some time. If you are planning to make money from your blog, I suggest you start planning on how much time you are going to devote to maintaining your website. Otherwise, you will just be wasting precious time (not to mention money) on an endeavor that you will not be reaping any benefit afterwards. If you are going to do blogging on a part-time basis (yes, blogging is a full-time job for many), one to three hours of your daily life committed to maintaining and promoting your blog will be enough.

  • Prepare to spend some money. Even though I am an advocate of free information, chances are, you will find your way at some point where you need to buy something (like a software) that will help boost your website traffic. That's a fact.

Blogging Vs Article Authoring and Online Article Writing

What is the difference between online article writing and blogging? Well, often they are so similar that you can hardly tell the difference between blog posts and articles. Of course, blog posts have much more leeway, and can be any length; anything from two-three lines of poetry to a video clip, while online articles are generally over 250 words or more in length.

So, when comparing these two forms of communication it should be noted that Blogging has a greater range of possibilities. But it also has a different target reader too. Some say blogging is a superior communication tool, as it invites greater interaction with the reader, Internet Surfer or blog subscriber. Also, bloggers often enjoy a larger social networks and communities online, making it a more personal experience for the writer or blog author.

Indeed, someone who writes articles on a given topic can use such content on a blog and many online article authors do just that. But in reality online articles are not always suited for blogs because if they are longer than 300 words they generally are met with a click-out from the site by the reader more often than not. Billy Joel had a song you might recall; I Am The Entertainer. One of the lines in that song was; "If you wanna have a hit, you have to make it quick, so I cut it down to 2:05"

Online articles that are short and sweet can make good blog posts, but only if. And Blogging allows for much more leeway in the types of posts, unlike online articles do. Additionally, blogging works best with more conversational posts, as it is more of a communication medium, so please consider all this as you assess the differences.

Before you start planning how to spend your windfall profits from the blog, there are a couple of things you need to know about how to make money from blogging by selling advertising.

Traffic Needs

Before you can begin working towards this goal, you need to make sure you already have a steady traffic stream. Because the amount you can charge for ad space depends on the amount of traffic coming to your blog, if you want to make money from blogging you need to have a good amount of traffic first.

The best way to drive traffic to your blog is by adding search engine optimized content on a regular basis. Make sure your content is of good quality so people will want to read it and will want to share it with others.

Choosing Advertising

Don't choose just any advertiser for your blog. If you truly want to keep your blog in good shape, then you need to choose advertising that will appeal to the people visiting your blog. For example, if your blog is geared towards parents and deals with child-rearing issues, then advertising lingerie, porn sites, or video games may not make much sense.

Many Weblogs today are running head to head with themselves and looking for that tiny little space to place what today has become the bed rock of blogging adverts. With adverts lining your blog you find people wanting to click away on your blog, the kind of adverts that appear on your blog page, attracts the kind of money you hope to make from your blog, adverts that carry big time company logo's like coca cola etc are been rushed by people and to think that the spaces are small, then imagine the competition involved for such little spaces.

Also you can monetize your blog when you get little or no competition from your area of specialization, everyone in that niche market see you as the guru and then the big guns come calling, what do you do than to sell off your blog and build another one that will replace the one you just off loaded. Many lazy internet watchers are on the lookout for such blogs where the owners are offered large sums of money to sell off there blogs
